I’m on a healing journey where I am discovering there are no ‘bad’ parts of Self. (which is easier to say than to believe, I know). Yet exploring this theory in my mind I found myself exploring this also within the many the layers of my Abstractions.

And then one day I came across a scrap of GoBoard and I knew immediately the substrate I have been looking for had been found. I hand cut and chip away, crafting a shape that is pleasing, and I realized, inspired by the rocks and stones one may find in nature. Next comes many layers of mark-making, cold wax, oil, and other mediums building up and subtracting down until each Part feels complete. As I work a name of a part of self emerges and I embrace it and give value to with the delicate 18K gold leaf.
